FAQ - About Visa and Work Permit

The application fee for the extension of temporary stay in the Kingdom (TM.7) is 1,900 Baht. The application fee for re-entry permit into the Kingdom (TM.8) is 1,000 Baht for single re-entry and 3,800 Baht for multiple re-entries.

The application for visa extension must be made only in person, as he/she needs to report to the authorized officials.

The following documents are required for the application for extension of Non-immigrant Visa "O" (BOI).
  1. An application for Extension of Temporary Stay in the Kingdom (TM.7) and a photograph size 4x6 cm. (taken within the last 6 months)To download

  3. The original and a copy of the applicant's passport
  4. The original and copies of the passport and work permit of applicant's family members who work in Thailand
  5. An approval letter from the Board of Investment (BOI)
Other documents submitted previously for the first application of Non-Immigrant Visa "O", such as, Certificate of Marriage, Birth Certificate, Confirmation letter from company are not required to re-submit.


The following documents are required for the application for extension of Non-immigrant Visa "O" (Non-BOI).

1) An application for Extension of Temporary Stay in the Kingdom (TM.7) and a photograph size 4x6 cm. (taken within the last 6 months) To download TM.7,To download TM.7, please access this link

2) An application for Re-entry Permit into the Kingdom (TM.8) and a photograph size 4x6 cm. (taken within the last 6 months)To download TM.8,

3)The original and a copy of the applicant's passport

4) The original and copies of the passport and work permit of applicant's family members who work in Thailand

5) Copies of official documents confirming relationship, such as, Certificate of Marriage, Birth Certificate or any confirmation letters issued by official government sector. The last document has to be certified by the Royal Embassy or the Royal Consulate-General of Thailand and also be shown in the original document.

6) Additional documents which are considered as appropriate by the Immigration Officer.

Other documents submitted previously for the first application of Non-Immigrant "O" visa, such as, Certificate of Marriage, Birth Certificate, Confirmation letter from company are not required to re-submit.

1) The letters approving the applicant to work according to other laws A. Letter from the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) B. Letter from the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT)


2) A copy of the Company's Affidavit (Certificate of Incorporation) issued by Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce of Thailand (not longer than 6 months)


3) A copy of a passport/a document in lieu of passport, Alien Identification Card, Alien's Certificate of Permanent Residence


4) Form: The Information for Work Permit Issuance According to Section 12 of the Working of Aliens Act, B.E.2551 This form can be downloaded from this link below of Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour of Thailand.


The required documents applying for the extension of a work permit for business supported by BOI are as follows:

1) The letters approving the applicant to work according to other laws A. Letter from the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) B. Letter from the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT)

The rate of fee for renewing the work permit is as follows:
1)An application form -- 100 baht/form
2)A work permit fee is different depending on a valid duration:
A. Valid for not exceed 3 months --750 Baht/book
B. Valid for 3-6 months -- 1,500 Baht/book
C. Valid for 6 months-1 year -- 3,000 Baht/book
